WordPress Training and Learning
Having worked with WordPress for years, my love for it has really grown. It wasn’t always so.
When I first used it, I really didn’t like it. It was hard to customise and getting content to show up in columns was a bit of a nightmare.
Fortunately that is all changed and the theme I now tend to build on requires no knowledge of HTML and CSS. Of course, it does help, but it’s not necessary. This means that I can create website for small businesses and then hand over the reigns, letting them take control of their web presence. To do this, I offer coaching sessions or tuition in how to use WordPress and make site changes.
Being able to edit your own site has many benefits:
- more spontaneity
- faster content changes and additions
- refining of your marketing over time
- lower running costs (an important consideration for startups)
I don’t believe in holding businesses to ransom and charging for changes. A site owner should be able to amend things themselves, and it should be easy.
If barriers to adding content are removed, business owners can concentrate on the message and the information. Rather than wondering how they are going to do it.
WordPress topics that can be covered in training
- Pages vs Posts
- Categories and Tags
- Filtering the news feed
- Adding custom links to the menu
- Plugins – selection and use
- Image editing
- Search Engine Optimisation
If you are new to WordPress, or feel that you’d like to be more comfortable using it, give me a shout. We’ll have a chat to establish where your knowledge level is – and whether there are any gaps. From there we can cover the topics you need.
If you’re based in Cumbria or north west of the UK, I can pay you a visit – or we can share screens and tackle any issues you might have.
